5 tips before coming to Bangkok

Bangkok is vibrant, exciting, and full of surprises. To make your trip smooth and stress-free, here are five essential tips every traveler should know before arriving.

Tip #1 - Dowload the app grab/bolt

Getting around Bangkok is much easier with ride-hailing apps like Grab and Bolt.

They are widely used, reliable, and often cheaper than street taxis. You can see the price upfront, avoid language barriers, and pay by cash or card.

Tip: Download and set up the app before arriving, so you’re ready as soon as you land.

Tip #2 Bring cash

TWhile Bangkok is modern, cash is still important, especially for:

• Street food

• Local markets

• Small shops

• Taxis and motorbike rides

ATMs are everywhere, but foreign cards often come with fees. Having cash on hand will make daily spending much easier.

Tip #3 - Buy mosquitos spray

Bangkok is a tropical city, and mosquitoes are common, especially in:

• Parks

• Night markets

• Riverside areas

• Local neighborhoods

Bring mosquito repellent from home or buy it easily at 7-Eleven, pharmacies, or supermarkets. This small item can save you from itchy bites and discomfort.

Tip #4 - Bring a lot of light clothes

Bangkok is hot and humid all year round. Light, breathable clothing will help you stay comfortable while walking and sightseeing.

Best choices:

• Cotton or linen fabrics

• Loose-fitting clothes

• Light colors

Tip: Even in malls, air-conditioning is strong—bringing a thin layer is useful.

Tip #5 - Carry passport when you're go money exchange

If you plan to exchange money in Bangkok, your passport is required at most exchange counters.

Good places to exchange money:

• SuperRich

• Exchange booths in malls

• Airport exchange counters (for small amounts)

Tip: Always carry your passport safely when going to exchange money, and avoid carrying it unnecessarily at night.
